1966 Coronet – Beautiful Dodge Car
1966 was a big year for any Dodge car at the time. This is the year when they unleashed the 426 street HEMI engine and the Dodge and Plymouth B-body platforms. This engine appeared as a race-only engine in the early 1960’s and was very successful in NASCAR and drag racing. The idea of putting this race machine into a daily driver resulted with the production of the street HEMI.
Essentially it was the same 426 cubic inch with lower compression ratio and some other differences from the previous one but still very powerful. It is ranged at 425 horsepower and 490 pound feet of torque. In this case, we have this machine installed in a B-body 1966 Dodge Coronet 440. It’s a little bit confusing but the “440” used in the name of this vehicle didn’t mean engine size, it meant the body style.
