1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 CJ 428
When it comes to cars built by the Ford Motor Company, the Lincoln brand was the high-line luxury car, Mercury was somewhere in the middle and Ford was more designed to be an everyman car. Mercury had a number of models that were basically the same as the Ford ‘brothers’, but with more luxurious items, little more quiet etc. And that was the case with the Cougar. This car was essentially a Mustang under the skin but designed to be a little more European oriented.
The XR7 is the sport version of the 1969 Mercury Cougar model year, very popular vehicle back in the days. The engine range was different, starting from the base model 351 cubic inch two-barrel all the way up to 428 cubic inch Cobra Jet Ram Air V8. This is the one that we are looking at on the video bellow which is one of only 96 ever made. This engine produces 335 horsepower and 440 pound feet of torque.
