1974 Pontiac Trans Am Super Duty 455
This is one of the last Super Dutys ever produced. Beside the ‘hard times’ in the mid 70’s, Pontiac didn’t give up on the 1974 Trans Am, especially the Super Duty option. It may look like the standard 455 engine but nearly everything about this engine is different. Pontiac made a bunch of Trans Ams back in 1974, but less than a 1000 came with the Super Duty engine and out of those, only 212 had the 4-speed like this car.
Under the hood of this 1974 Pontiac Trans Am Super Duty model there is a 455 cubic inch engine producing 290 horsepower and 390 pound feet of torque. But we have to remember that by 1971 those horsepower and torque numbers were rated differently. Another interesting fact – the tires may be the original ones that came on this car out of the factory.
