Learn How To Increase The Power Of Your Dodge Challenger
We bring you a new series provided by Drive, where you can learn how to increase the power on your stock Dodge Challenger. With some basic technics and replacing some of the factory parts, you will be able to increase the power of your engine. Changing these parts which will not affect your factory warranty. In this part one, we will see how much horsepower can bring the Mopar Scat Pack Stage 1 package.
For this project, there will be used two identical Challengers, which on one of them will be made the upgrades. These Challengers are powered by Chryslers 345 cubic-inch, 5.7 liter small-block Hemi V8 engine. On a dyno the power of the Challenger is 331 horsepower and 363 lb.-ft. of torque at the rear wheels. In this Scat Pack Stage 1 will be made, changes on the intake and exhaust system.
First, will be changing the volume of the cold air getting into the engine. Second, also will be increased the volume of the exhaust gases, by replacing the factory exhaust with the Mopar Cat Back exhaust. Also, there must be installed less restricted oil filter and upgraded computer which will be able to manage these changes. This upgrade provides better engine breathing. The result is 345 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque, which is 14 horsepower and 6 torques more than the stock engine.
