Evolution of the Fastest Sports Car in the World
The fastest sports car in the world was created especially to beat the legendary Shelby Cobra back in the days. Back in the 1960’s (1963 to be more precise) Chevrolet was sick and tired of the fact that Cobras were tearing apart their Corvettes. Chevrolet found the race car driver and builder Bill Thomas. They said to him that they will supply the drive-train and the suspension and he will design a car that will beat the famous Shelby Cobra.
This particular one on the video bellow is actually the original 1963 Cheetah that Budd Clusserath drove 215 mph at Daytona in 1964. That’s another fact that this vehicle was actually the fastest sports car in the world at the time. This speed is much faster than the Cobra could go. Even faster than the Shelby Daytona Coupe, which won the Le Mans back than. Beside the speed, the Cheetah will be recognized as one of the most exotic cars ever built in the world.
